"Seal" Building: Embodying Wuhan's History and Transformation

Central-South Architectural Institute presents "Seal," a building in Wuhan, China, designed to encapsulate the city's historical journey and its evolution into modernity. The building's four elevations form a large 'W,' symbolizing the city of Wuhan. It showcases specific timelines of significant historic events, reflecting the city's development and paving the way for the future.

The design leverages regional cultural inheritance and innovation, emphasizing user experience and providing an open, comfortable, and sharing space for communication. "Seal" integrates sustainable and low-carbon features, incorporating proactive and inactive technologies to ensure environmental responsibility.

The project, which commenced in April 2014 and concluded in August 2017, is a testament to the Institute's commitment to combining client requirements and public needs. It incorporates smart retrieval and search systems, smart archives storage, and multiple-purpose halls and meeting rooms open to the public for commercial use, alleviating government financial burdens.

The building's design focuses on the relationship between the structure and the city, with clear space division based on functionality. It seamlessly blends building and environment, utilizing local materials and modern techniques to showcase the city's rich history. The building stands tall at 66 meters, covering a total land area of 13,291 square meters and a gross floor area of 57,487 square meters.

Central-South Architectural Institute's "Seal" design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, acknowledging its outstanding creativity and ingenious incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The project exemplifies strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
