"Lucid Dream" by Lus Design: Award-Winning Apartment Redefines Modern Living with Artistic and Technological Fusion

Lus Design, an emerging interior design firm based in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, has received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative project, "Lucid Dream." Completed in November 2023, the project transformed a 15-year-old apartment into a contemporary residence that seamlessly integrates technology and art, reflecting the unique preferences of its occupants-a couple with distinct tastes. The husband's affinity for technology and the wife's passion for art inspired the design concept, which draws on the idea of a "lucid dream" where creativity and comfort coexist in an awakened state.

The renovation involved converting the original four-room layout into a spacious three-room configuration, expanding the social and foyer areas to enhance openness and flexibility. Lus Design employed a sophisticated palette of materials, including titanium-plated metal, magnetic panels, slate tiles, KEIM mineral paint, and eco-friendly finishes. The interplay of soft braided panels, patterned tiles, and lush plants delivers a harmonious balance between modernity and warmth. Notably, the master bedroom's shower area features ginkgo-patterned tiles, symbolizing calmness and resilience, while large color blocks and a blend of marble and wood grain evoke both technological precision and artistic softness.

Addressing the challenges of renovating an older structure, the design team resolved issues such as uneven flooring, poor acoustic insulation, and water leaks, ensuring a comfortable and functional environment. Thoughtful details-including custom storage, display areas for artwork, and expansive mineral paint-covered walls-enable the residents to personalize their space and foster a deeper connection with nature and creativity. "Lucid Dream" stands as a testament to Lus Design's commitment to innovative, client-centric solutions that elevate everyday living and exemplify best practices in art, science, and design.
