"Gathering" by C9 design: Award-Winning Residence Emphasizes Spaciousness, Social Connection, and Modern Style

C9 design's latest project, "Gathering," has been awarded the Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award for 2025, celebrating its outstanding achievement in residential design. Located in Taiwan and completed in June 2022, the 151-square-meter residence was conceived as both a comfortable home and a welcoming venue for family and friends to gather. The design team, led by Mason Ching and Chloe Chang, leveraged the site's high ceilings and open-plan layout to create a stress-free, multi-functional environment that accommodates visitors of all ages.

The project stands out for its innovative use of materials and spatial planning. A striking upright glass block installation in the foyer allows natural light to permeate while maintaining privacy, enhancing the sense of spaciousness and adding a three-dimensional visual effect. The living and dining areas are organized around a custom three-meter-long table, perfect for large gatherings, while the adjacent storage area features a duplex-like design with glass panels for safety and visual connectivity. The ceiling's geometric forms not only conceal piping but also amplify the vertical dimension, contributing to the home's majestic atmosphere.

To realize this vision, C9 design employed a palette of slab tiles, glass tiles, moru glass, iron, titanium-plated trim, and woodwork. The construction of the glass block wall required meticulous reinforcement for structural integrity, demonstrating the team's technical expertise and commitment to quality. The original four-bedroom layout was reimagined to create larger, more functional living spaces, including a master suite with a dressing room and enhanced storage. Throughout, a neutral grayscale scheme accented with gold leaf and titanium details underscores the residence's modern, dynamic aesthetic.

The "Gathering" project reflects C9 design's people-oriented philosophy, prioritizing comfort, flexibility, and the joy of shared experiences. The result is a home that seamlessly blends artful design with everyday practicality, offering a unique environment where both adults and children can thrive. The Bronze A' Design Award recognizes the project's creative ingenuity, technical excellence, and its contribution to improving quality of life through thoughtful spatial design.
