"La Galerie" by C. J. House Design, completed in May 2023 in Taiwan, has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative transformation of a 33-year-old apartment into a gallery-inspired home that harmonizes art, nature, and functionality, reflecting the owner's free-spirited lifestyle through a unique four-season theme.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
C. J. House Design's latest project, "La Galerie," has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award 2025 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Located in Taiwan, this 132-square-meter residence reimagines a 33-year-old apartment as a luminous, gallery-like space that celebrates the passage of time through art, color, and natural light. The design was inspired by the owner's passion for freedom and art, resulting in a home that feels both unconventional and deeply personal.
The renovation involved a complete reconfiguration of the apartment's layout, with all partitions removed to create an open, flowing environment. Curved walls and corridors guide movement and evoke a sense of stability, while floor-to-ceiling windows maximize natural light and air circulation. Each area of the home is themed around a season, with carefully selected paintings and color accents-green for spring, blue for summer, orange for autumn, and gray for winter-strategically placed to enhance the ambiance and reflect the changing moods of the year. The use of white as a dominant backdrop transforms the home into a "white gallery," allowing art and furniture to take center stage.
Sustainability and thoughtful material choices are central to the project. Original aluminum windows were removed and recycled, while wood, recycled metal, stone, and fabric create rich layers and textures throughout the space. The designers also addressed the practical needs of the residents by creating flexible dual master bedrooms, accommodating different work schedules without compromising privacy or comfort. The result is a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality, where every detail-from concealed storage to wave-like walls-serves both beauty and purpose. Residents have praised the improved lighting, air flow, and the seamless connection between indoors and outdoors, making "La Galerie" a true reflection of their artistic and free-spirited lifestyle.
