"Mure Et Musc" Residence: Award-Winning Industrial Style with Warmth and Functionality by TWM Interior Design

TWM Interior Design's latest project, "Mure Et Musc," has received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award 2025 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Located in Taiwan and completed in March 2024, this 92.5-square-meter apartment was designed for a female client with a passion for industrial style, seeking a space that harmonizes the coolness of industrial aesthetics with warmth and comfort. The project stands out for its thoughtful integration of the owner's strong personality, utilizing a restrained palette of blacks, greys, and wood tones to create a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere.

The design features an expansive entrance that enhances storage and sets a dynamic tone for the home. A striking TV wall finished in pore-textured diatomaceous earth interacts with shifting light and shadow, while the use of RGB lighting and varied ceiling heights adds depth and vitality. The open-plan layout merges the dining and piano areas into a multifunctional space, and the removal of a room partition allows for increased storage, ensuring that practicality meets aesthetic goals. Materials such as crossroad bricks, wood veneer, and glass are layered to soften the industrial look, providing both texture and warmth.

Throughout the project, the designers faced challenges in balancing aesthetics, functionality, and community relations during construction. By maintaining open communication with neighbors and ensuring all activities were compliant, they preserved positive relationships within the building. The result is a residence that not only reflects the owner's individuality but also offers a peaceful retreat, free from excess decoration and focused on natural textures and changing light.
