FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SinnieDesign's "Craftsmanship" cafe project stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. Situated in a former warehouse that has served the local community for over 75 years, the cafe's design preserves the pioneering spirit of its founders while embracing contemporary trends. The designer, KAI-WEI LIU, chose an industrial theme, repurposing original machinery as decor and integrating steel beams, exposed EMT conduits, and warm wood accents to create a space that is both functional and rich in narrative.
A key feature of the renovation is the careful balance between maintaining the building's original character and enhancing its usability. The 165.2-square-meter space is thoughtfully divided into ordering and dining zones, connected by guiding lines on the cement floor that increase efficiency and invite exploration. Vintage machines are prominently displayed, allowing customers to engage with the site's history as they dine. The bold green exterior and logo, set against a backdrop of gray, silver, and black, draw attention and reinforce the brand's identity, while warm lighting enhances the appeal of the food and creates a cozy atmosphere.
The project overcame significant technical challenges, particularly in remodeling the original cement-tiled roof to introduce six skylights. SinnieDesign implemented a specialized structural method to seamlessly integrate aluminum-framed windows while ensuring waterproofing and stability. The use of raw materials such as concrete, steel, and iron not only emphasizes durability and eco-friendliness but also allows the natural textures to tell the story of the brand's deep roots in the community. The result is a unique, interactive cafe that invites both nostalgia and discovery, earning the project a prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2025 for its outstanding expertise and innovation.
